All sales experts agree that mornings are one of the most critical times of the day for salespeople.  Why?  It’s a time of the day to regain focus and clarity.

To help you and your sales team get supercharged for the day, I have listed below fifteen things you should consider doing every morning.

  1. Get to work early.
  2. Schedule time to make your follow-up calls.
  3. Update your to-do list before opening your e-mail.
  4. Read your sales/personal goals.
  5. Spend one-hour reading a book on sales or marketing.
  6. Post content to your LinkedIn account.
  7. Give a list of problems to your sales manager to handle.
  8. Say “no” to non-revenue producing projects.
  9.  Schedule your sales manager’s time to be on joint sales calls with you.
  10. Clear your desk of clutter.
  11. Say “good morning” to co-workers and the management team
  12. Look for high priority items and requests in your inbox.
  13. Keep your e-mails brief and to the point when writing to clients, prospects, and co-workers.
  14. Focus 100% on your sales goals.
  15. Turn off your personal smartphone when making calls (when at the office).

Successful salespeople know their #1 priority is to “sell.”  That said, look at your sales reports and sales pipeline to see what needs to be done with open proposals, scheduling more appointments to making more “oh by the way” calls.  And don't forget to build/update your database of prospects, clients, past clients, and referral partners.

Executive Summary: The key to managing each day is to stay focused, plan the day’s activity, and have a list of actions that need to be addressed.
